@AkitaPullin i don't know about you but i despise the reputation Akitas have
i have always said that a dog is as good as the owner who trains it
as you are an akita owner i hope you agree
its also a breed of dog i would just die to own |

Rocky was socialized from his first day home. He was raised with 4 cats that he grooms and plays with. Socialize your dog with people and other animals and train basic obedience . he's trained to lay down to greet kids and small dogs, because he is big and be intimidating. He goes to the dog park and petsmart once a week for socialization, even though he is 3 now. We took him into crowds of people and always encouraged him to "say hello" whenever someone wanted to pet him on the street. |

Your dog is awesome and gorgeous! I am in search for a new dog and am considering an Akita, but I have been told it's common for them to not be so friendly with strangers and other pets, I see you have a cat in this video so there must be an exception. What your opinion? |

aww what a good boy, we have a 6yr old akita cross rottweiller and he is very well behaved - more akita in him than rotti i think and he does all the commands - sit, speak, wait etc, and he's so loyal n loving and it's so true about them hardly barking - only when there's really something to bark about - i'd be lost without him xx |

Such a good boy. I know what you mean about teaching them to speak. we actually had to make a barking noise at our boy until he finally would bark. now he does it on command..but they don't bark, unless there is REALLY something to bark about. We just had Akita puppies...5 in all, we got a short video, kinda looks like your big boy...but smaller of course |

about 10 minutes for "monster"...I held up a piece of food so he would jump up for it, but not jump off the ground and said monster. Speak took a couple days of having him really excited so he would bark almost out of frustration for the treat. This was hard to teach because he was bred to bark very little : ) |

The best vid I've found for the command "wait" is this: Dog Training - How to teach your dog to wait at the door
I did something similar with Rocky where everytime I would go to put down food, open the car door/house door/front door etc that if after I told him to wait and he moved toward whatever, I would "reset" the thing and give the command again. Hope this helps...it is a good command for him also when we get to a crosswalk and he's pulling me in the wagon :) |

I think "wait" is the best thing you can teach to a dog. How do you do it? |
