Bizkit isn't having seizures. He's CLEARLY asleep. And @LuvDogs1973 -- he's not disoriented, he's still asleep. He doesn't start to wake up until about 1:45 mins in to the video. Bizkit's human sweet talks him too...you can tell by her voice and his body language that they have a close relationship. If you can't tell the difference between a dog acting out his dream and a dog having a seizure....please do whatever animals you have a favor and trade them all in for a goldfish. |

This dog is sleepwalking. My own Aunt's Dog does this. Plus if he was having a seizure, would he be able to bark? NO! |

I agree with ClaudineJones: please take these videos to the vets and make sure there isn't any underline problem. If there isn't then I told my husband I'm just glad our dog doesn't get to his feet, he just barks and runs in the air (while laying down) wakes me up if he is near a wall (cause he's kicking it) Lol... |

The dog is definitely not having seizures, if it was, it probably would not be barking since vocalization is not associated with seizures in dogs. This is by medical definition normal behaviour in dogs (usually puppies) associated with deep sleep. |

This dog is definitely having seizures. Note how the dog is totally dioriented as he stops thrashing. Also note how rigid his body is once he stands up. You can see him slowly coming out of the seizure as the owner says "Are you waking up?" and laughs. This is not funny and the dog should be taken to the vet. |

@TruthandLies100 I have two dogs, they do the exact same thing. Not quite to the same extent but close enough.
One dog, a shnauzer, sometimes will stand up while sleeping and howl, then lay back down.
And the other, a fox terrier, tries running, kicks and makes noises while she sleeps....
It's just sleepwalking, you people need to chill. |

NEVER wake up a dog in a nightmare. They could easily attack you. |

@WikkiWooYeah Ran out of space but would just like to add that if you're a nurse and have "seen all types of seizures" why aren't you familiar with the symptoms of petit mal? |

@WikkiWooYeah My own dog has had 3 episodes in 5 years that the vet advises keeping an eye on but thinks medication is unneccesary at this stage. He's never had a full-blown fit, is mobile but appears to be in an altered state, is unresponsive to his name being called and startled at being touched. I saw a man suddenly jump up onto a cafe counter and sit twitching while unresponsive to his family who were explaining to staff that he wasn't being anti-social, he was epileptic. |

My friend is an EMT and has also had experience with service dogs. 1 disqualification of service dogs is seizures. He has seen in disqualified dogs the same actions. What Biskit has is petite -mahl seizures graduating to grand-mahl seizures. He says you should take him to the vet just to be sure....i hope its just him sleepwalking but theres a strong possibility that it is more serious. He is adorable and we wish for the best outcome :) |

@ClaudineJones I'm sorry, what? Mobile? I've seen a few seizures as a nurse. Interestingly, I have seen all types of seizures and during none of them did the patient become "mobile," unless you mean falling down from a standing position.
I'm not convinced this dog is having seizures, but I do believe he or she is suffering from a severe sleep disorder. |

awful awful awful. Clearly the dog is in distress when it stands up and it appears he is temporarily paralyzed. I certainly hope the owner has taken the animal to the vet and isn't just one of those incredibly stupid pet owners allowing their pet to suffer simply because they are too lazy or stupid to take them in to be seen. |

@carajacksonn27cj except this isn't sleepwalking, it's a seizure and yes it could kill him because animals having seizures, or in the aftermath of a seizure, are prone to bite due to confusion which could result in him being put down. He could also injure himself badly during a fit, I've seen human fits and they don't always just lay on the floor twitching, sometimes the victim can be quite mobile and get into dangerous situations.
This dog needs to see a vet. |
